Makeup Dos and Don’ts
We can sense the extensive influence of the ’90s touching everything in between clothing and make-up this season. Making it all about the eyes, the return of the metallic eye shadow easily marks one of the most exciting make-up trends for fall 2013. Shimmery plums, turquoise and crimson should live on your lids when getting ready for an autumn night out. If anything, the bold metallics give us an excuse to channel full creativity in this season’s beauty looks. The trick to keep the looks wearable is to never take the inspiration too far.
However – perfecting the metallic trend can be tricky. It might be glitter a go-go at the office Christmas party but when it comes to keeping the look sophisticated, there are a few rules to follow.
1. Do try metallic eyes. It’s the easiest way to experiment with the trend. Whether you want to go graphic as Pat McGrath did at Dior or you’d prefer to try something more subtle (add an eye glitter into the corners for a light dusting of sparkle) there are plenty of creams, powders and liners to play with this season. Find a texture and a colour that suits and prepare to make your eyes pop!
2. Don’t wear a bright lip colour at the same time. Too much. If you’re feeling really brave, avoid wearing mascara – it makes metallic eyes appear all the more alluring.
