Kendall and Kylie Hope Their New Line Eclipses Their Celebrity

Kendall and Kylie Jenner are never not announcing some sort of fashion endeavor. In the latest interation, the sisters sat down with WWD to explain an impending contemporary line that’s launching in spring 2016. “It’s enjoyable to be able to fully create,” Kendall Jenner told WWD. “It’s a lot different from our Topshop and PacSun collections because those were both collaborations, so they obviously had a say in everything.” Every piece in the new line will retail for under $ 250, and target retailers include Saks, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Shopbop, and Revolve.com.

What stands out about this particular venture compared to Kendall and Kylie’s myriad of other design gigs is that it sounds like they’re really trying hard to be serious about the line’s success from a design perspective. The sisters won’t be fronting the line, in order to “make it more about the clothes,” as Kylie explained to WWD. Kendall said that the approach reminded her of “a Mary Kate and Ashley kind of thing,” referring to how The Row’s success isn’t intrinsically attached to the Olsen name.

While the line itself won’t be launching for awhile, here’s the highlight reel of everything they’ve designed (or sort-of designed) so far.

February 2013: Kendall and Kylie for PacSun collection launches. The current collection is called “Les Rebeldes” and looks vaguely inspired by Spanish culture.

February 2014: Kendall and Kylie announce a shoe collab with Steve Madden. The site currently carries two pairs of shoes in the collection.

March 2015: Kendall and Kylie try to match Kim’s app success with a mobile game of their own.

June 2015: A Topshop collection from the Jenner girls lands in stores, offering jumpsuits and sweatshirts inscribed with wise proverbs like “When in doubt, vacation.” The collection was hyped on Instagram all spring.

July 2015: The sisters launch a flash sale with two crop tops which eventually sell out but not before the price is slashed from $ 42 to $ 28. The model is supposed to work on a new product release every week, but there’s still only two crop tops available.
