Intelligence: Lululemon Explains Why Its Pants Are So Expensive

Lululemon is truly sorry that those calf-length pants you purchased for barre class last year are fully sheer in the rear. The company has since debuted a new fabric, Full-On Luon, which hit stores in the US and Canada in July. Today, they released a video explaining just why it is so perfect (and, therefore, in a way detailing why the Lululemon clothes made with it are so expensive).

The new Luon, which was reportedly more than two and a half years in the making, is carefully produced. Testifies Lulu’s vp of global product quality: “every single lot of the fabric is tested before it leaves the mill.” Says the company’s lead yoga designer, diplomatically, “We saw that there was an opportunity to take the fabric and evolve it to another place.” The brand’s Full-On Luon leggings are priced at for $ 72 (a cropped style) to $ 98 (ankle-length).
