Intelligence: Dick’s CEO Apologizes to Tween Girl Over Lack of Women in Catalog

Dick’s Sporting Goods made a public apology to a 12-year-old girl via Twitter over the weekend after she wrote a letter arguing that the retailer’s recent catalog was blatantly sexist. McKenna Peterson received a copy of Dick’s Basketball 2014 catalog and was disappointed to find it featured virtually no female players.

She typed up a letter of complaint to the sporting goods company and her father tweeted a copy of the letter to Dick’s. Two days later, Dick’s CEO Ed Stack wrote a letter back to McKenna apologizing for the lack of women and promised to do better in the future. At the end of the note, perhaps to prove his sincerity, he even asked if he could meet with McKenna to apologize in person.
